I'm fundraising to help our campus chapter raise $10,000 dollars to be matched by State Farm in order to have an impact equivalent to $20,000 or two home repairs.
My name is Jeremy Holden and I'm the current vice president of the University of Texas Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. I have been working with Habitat for 2 years now, and it has been vital to my development professionally. I think Habitat for Humanity is an amazing way to get technical experience while physically seeing the impact you are making. We have been advocating for affordable housing in the Austin area by collaborating with Austin Habitat for Humanity and educating our own members. Working side by side with families has provided me with a more empathetic view of different parts of the Austin community. In my eyes, a home allows a family to take more pride in their social lives and reinforces healthy family relationships. The impact it has on a family's confidence allows them to live fuller lives without the constant anxiety from not having a stable place to live.
